Honeycomb is used for many military, commercial and industrial applications. Our individual product pages have additional information regarding markets and uses, as well as product pictures.

Honeycomb Seals – This is the consumable honeycomb portion of the honeycomb seal components in Aircraft Engines and/or Power Generation Turbines. Normally the cell sizes range from 1/32” to 1/4” hexagonal but can also be larger. Typical Materials are HastX, Haynes 214/230, Inconel 625/718 or a SST. The material thicknesses normally range from .001” to .005” although a few are significantly thicker.

Structural Honeycomb – This is the core portion of a Honeycomb Panel. Cell sizes typically range from 1/4” to 3/4” and use material types in various forms of SST, Inconel and Titanium. Square cell is predominant with smooth or various corrugated wall geometries. Indy Honeycomb is especially competent manufacturing finished 3/8” square cell core with standard or deep corrugated wall geometry (SC-6-XX-F).

Other applications – This area covers uses that are in general categories of optical, flow straightening, filtering, cosmetic and others. Cell depths typically range from very small (<.050”) to 12” or more. Cell depths of less than 4” cell depth are more commonly used for most applications.

Our aerospace grade honeycomb segments, rings and core blankets are made from alloys such as HastX, Inconel, Titanium, Haynes, Stainless Steels and various other alloys. The cell sizes range from 1/32” – 1/2”. Core thicknesses range from .050” to 4”, higher thicknesses are also available upon request.
